Tokar

I’ll tell you right now, I’m still not exactly sure what to call this. Tokar, a four piece from Cleveland (boo to the Browns), play an odd mix of sludge meets nu-metal, with the emphasis being on the nu-metal. The songs range from slow to mid-paced chuggers, with very few changes, and almost no complexity. The guitarists are merely average, the bassist simply mimics the guitars, and the singer sounds like that fag from Disturbed. The only thing making this band listenable is their drummer. This dude fucking slays! His patterns are always interesting and quirky, and his cymbal patterns are very explosive. I can’t in good conscience, recommend this release to anyone, but maybe this is just my nu-metal prejudice showing through.
