SLACKS! With Dan Ballinger on Drums, Mick Mullin on Bass and Guitars, and you have Randy on Electric and Acoustic Guitars as well as Banjo, Slide Guitar, and Saxaphone. I also want to mention that Ed Ballinger now plays bass for SLACKS! but is not on this recording. The first track "Shintown" is an upbeat 3minute instrumental with acoustic guitars and a banjo! Right away i knew this cd was not going to be heavy, but it's full of talent. Second song "No Goodbyes" is a really good chill song featuring Maria Christopher from the band 27 on vocals. Her vocals sound very, very good. Plus there is a slide guitar on this song. So far this next track "Coronado" is my favorite. The guitars sound great and there is even a saxophone. 2:26 into the song comes a killer guitar effect, and some possible feedback. Then there's a build up and it starts rocking real good. The way this song ends is awesome. It gets rather noisy with the electric guitar, and i dig that. The acoustic guitars on this cd remind me of something i might hear on Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Hear, and possible Animals. I'm enjoying this cd as it progresses. Another track that stands out in my opinion is "Solid Gold" which not only rocks, but there is a hint of Funk in it.
Track 7 "Vision" has some cool vocals from Beth Miller on it. Song "Shitkicker" has an obvious country bluegrass thing going on, but rocks at the same time. This song has "Big Zeke" on vocals but it's kinda hard to hear them clearly, with everything else. If your into metal and nothing else then you probably won't like this cd at all. However, for everyone else who enjoys good music full of original talent that doesn't have to be heavy, then this is for you. Thanks to Infernal Racket records for sending me this disc, i enjoyed it. -DJ Bushmado
