So here it is. The Iron Maiden DVD.This Dvd comes as a 2 disc set. The first is a live show from the Rock in Rio 2001 Festival. The only true negative complaints I have, besides Bruce Dickinson's lame ass pants (diff. tour, diff. decade, yet the only member to not yet realize how silly he dresses), is that the guitars are pretty low in the mix for the first few tunes. And also Steve Harris' bass is low in the mix the entire time. At least lower then normal for this group. I think we all know how important it has been that Steve's bass is upfront in the mix for what, almost 25 years now??? So why the change? But, the rest is all good my friends. The rest of the audio is great. The look of the video is superb. I just wish the camera wouldn't switch around so much. Maidens performance is top of the line as we expect. Even Bruce still sounds on top of the game. He does get winded here and there but still hits all the notes. He can even still hold that long low note at the start of 'Hallowed Be Thy Name',"...are running looooooooow" Nicko Mcbrain has improved a bit with the upgrade to double kick drums. He has been a single kick guy for most of his career, but made the transition quite well. Though most of the material here is from the 'Brave New World' album, there are still some classics here. Some included are 'Wrathchild', 'Iron Maiden', 'Run to the Hills', ' The Trooper' and more. One thing I dig about how they do 'The Trooper' these days is that on what was originally Adrian Smith's lead is now doubled along with Janick Geres and comes off sounding amazing! Awesome show!!
Disc 2 in this set features 3 parts. The first being the 'candid interview' section which follows each member in individual segment interviews on their day off. All except Dave and Nicko that is, who share segments. The best of these is Janick's. Thats pretty strange considering he was always my least favorite member, especially since I love Adrian and Janick was his replacement. But Janick's segment just seems to show that he's on a much more human level then the rest. The second part of this disc is the 'Day in the Life', which is pretty self explanitory. The third and final part is 'Ross Halflin's photo diary' of the South American tour. It has 50 pictures in slide show fashion and has commentary by Ross himself. I am recommending this DVD to any real Maiden fan. Its well worth the cash. So quit reading and go buy it. Now. Steve Harris is GOD!!!!!!!!
