QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

I have come to the conclusion that this band should be called Queens of the STONED Age. If your in the market for the perfect album to smoke a fat one to and vibe on, this could be it. Then again, could you expect any less from 2 important ex-members of stoner legends Kyuss? The disc begins with a heavier tune "You think I ain't worth a dollar, but I feel like a millionare" that has some screaming type vocals. Then it slips into typical QOTSA type material. A bit slower, fuzzed guitars, and the droned out half spoke/half sung vocals these guys are known for. This is an amazing album. The songwriting is perfection and the performance flawless. The one thing I respect about this cd and the way the record co. is promoting it is that they haven't used the fact that former Nirvana skinsman and current Foo Fighters mainman Dave Grohl is pounding the Queens kit now as a marketing tool. They haven't hid the fact, but they haven't exploited it either. And to be quite honest, I think this is Mr. Grohl's best drum performance ever! He has pulled out all the stops and sounds more solid then I would have ever imagined. Also, the guitar work from Josh Homme is sounding awesome these days. He just seems to have a knack for great riffs. I would definitley suggest "Songs for the Deaf" to any fan of Kyuss, Fu-Manchu or even the Foo-Fighters.
