I got to give Griff's Exegesis tons of credit for making a cd like none other that I've heard before. If anything I can say it is very interesting. The music is a psychedelic twist on industrial style rock. Tons of experimentation went on in here. It almost sounds like what you would get if you locked Gibby Haynes in a room for 24 hours with a sheet of acid, a couple guitars, a drum machine, mics and some recording equipment. The vocals ramble on incoherently lost in a wave of room echo. He makes interesting use of looping guitar feedback with acoustic guitar layered over top. Most of the songs go into the 5 min. mark. Each more twisted then the next. The tracks seem to move along so slowly that time stops. There is an uneasy feel throughout the whole demo. This is all created with ambience and space. The track "Furvert" takes the tempo way up sucking you out of the grave Griff has burried you in. Then it's a swan dive back into the ground with the robotic like hum of "D.U.I. Style." The track "Cross Section Through Jazz Musician's Skull" is interesting to say the least. It's an all instrumental track with the same chord progression for 4 min. There is a second guitar that justs sings over top of this the whole time. The last track is called "Atavan & Its Uses in the Gnostic Arts". This track is 17:20. Beleive me when I tell you that this track feels like at least 10 hours long. I'm not sure if this is what Griff was going for here, however in an odd way it was calming and disturbing all at the same time. I suggest if you have 74min. 36sec. and a whole bag of Shrooms to kill, just pop in this gem and see where it takes you.
