When a Death Metal band, or any metal band goes NU-Metal we say that band sold out. But what happens when a NU-Metal band goes Death Metal? Well i call that a step in the right direction. That's exactly what happened with Pittsburgh's own FREEK. And as a long time FREEK fan, i am thrilled about the genre change. Not too long after FREEK went death metal, they recorded 3 new songs for this cd.(Necrosodomizer,Putrid,&Rectal Stew)The other 5 songs are actually the LEPROSY demo re-mastered. Which is cool, cause FREEK is pretty much a new and improved LEPROSY.(Leprosy was Chris & Carl's old Death Metal band)FREEK is bringing back the old LEPROSY songs. They have been playing them live, and they sound great with keyboards. That's one of my favorite things about FREEK is the keyboards. The only thing that bugs me about this cd, is that on the 3 new songs it is hard to hear Chris's high vocals due to the way the vocal effects turned out. But other than that, this disc is fucking brutal. I also thought it was very cool of FREEK to dedicate their cd to the spirit of Chuck Schuldiner in the liner notes. FREEK is playing all the time now, so see em live and pick up this cd.
