Music should always be a visceral experience. Songs are about emotion. Pain. Love. Hate. Remorse. The more of the intended emotion you feel, the better the music is. What is unimportant, to a large extent, is the technicallity of the music in question. Technique is a good thing, but it can actually detract from the emotions in some cases, (see Yngvie J Malmsteen). Over using technique at the expense of emotion is definitely not something one could ever accuse Dragon Green of doing. Dragon Green is a Pennsylvanian band that believes very much in conveying emotion. And as you've probably guessed by now, they aren't very technical. Hell, they don't even have any vocals on the entire disc. The songs are sludge at its' finest. Slow, bludgeoning and doomy, the five songs on this disc all clock in at over the five minute mark. I normally love progressive styled music, but the repetiveness on this release bothers me none.

The songs them selves are five chord chuggers that steamroll the unsuspecting listener with pure rawk n roll raunch. There are very few solos on this album, but the solo(?) on "Gipsi the Amateur" is actually quite remarkable in its stark simplicity. The production is pure analog fury in its vintage sound. This is the perfect album to sit back, roll a doobie, and get smoky to. Kudos to Infernal Racket records for snagging this band. They are a true stoner winner!
