Interview with Domicile Drummer Louie
Interview by DJ
Domicile has been together since 1999, with a different lineup right? How do you think your sound has progressed or evolved from then to what it is now?
Well Mike and I came out of a death metal band and we wanted to start something totally different. We used to joke that we were like Spinal Tap only with guitar players exploding instead of drummers. We even had David from Sinning Is Our Savior fill in for about six months when we parted ways with one guitar player. All we wanted was a kick ass heavy crunchy guitar player. Little did I know he was playing bass all the time. So when we moved from Erie to Pittsburgh Mike said he didn't want to play bass or sing anymore. He switched to guitar and the search was on for a new singer and bass player. We wanted to take it to a new level and be more aggressive. We found Fred and Joe both on the Pittsburgh Music Classifieds and as they say the rest is history.
Lets tak about the new full length "As I Choke On The Ashes",i honestly think it is killer. Do you have a favorite track from the cd or one that means the most?
Thanks for the compliment we love the disc which to us is the most important thing. My favorite song is Black Powder Exhale. Three reasons one I think Eric Klinger did a amazing job on it and I like how musically it goes all over the place from mellow to balls to wall aggressive. Also it is a very personal song to Fred about his cousin committing suicide.
What was it like working with Eric Klinger, and will you be doing future recordings with him?
Eric is amazing to work with. We were turned on to him by David from SIOS again. My son Jon was the drummer on there Painted disc, so when he went to record I was there helping set up and I thought Eric did a great job on Jon’s drum tracks. We set up time for us to go in and he just kicked ass. He listens to want you want and is open to your suggestions and him being a all around musician means he knows where your at.
What was the best Domicile show you've played so far?
Last 911 we played a freedom fest out in Ford City it was a great show. It was outdoors huge stage great light show, fog the whole nine yards. We thought we were the opening band and ended up headlining it. The crowd tore it up the whole show!

From one Metalhead to Another, what are your thoughts on the horrible Tragedy that took Dimebag's live in December 04?
Well it hits all of us hard. My band are all heavily influenced by Pantera I saw Pantera on the Vulgar tour and was blown away. I will never understand why a asshole would take such a nice guys life. This is why I set up this memorial show is to remember a great metal guitar player and bring some unity back to the Pittsburgh metal scene. It may not be a lot but all the bands are playing for free and we are donating all the money to his memorial fund. Plus for every CD or T- shirt we sell that night we are going to donate another $2.00 to the fund. I want to thank Joel of 31st Pub for working with me to set this up. So I hope all the metalheads in Pittsburgh show up and have a drink to remember Dime. Dime will never be forgotten in our Hearts! RIP Dime
What can we expect from Domicile in 2005?
We are shopping our disc to labels to see what the interest is. We are writing new material for the next disc. Yes we will be recording with Eric Klinger again. We are planning on playing a lot of shows to promote the disc. I would like to set up a big Metalfest this summer outdoors. Get as many of the Pittsburgh bands on board and just tear it up. So if any of your readers have any ideas contact me. Bloodyknuckles63@aol.com
Anything You would like to add or close with?
Well I would like to think there is some unity in the Pittsburgh scene! When I contacted bands to play there wasn't any well I am not making money. It was yeah I am on board. I have had bands contact me since asking if there were any open spots ,so people are interested. We hope everyone will come out and support the Dimebag memorial show! Most of us eat sleep and play METAL so lets support the scene! Thanks for taking the time to check out our new disc and you can check us out at www.domicilemetal.com
