Here comes a band from good ol NYC. The Berzerkers play 80's style hardcore. Good anger driven punk. They mix it up with different tempos. They don't try to play 100 mph all the time. However the punk parts are nice and thrashy. I hear influences such as TSOL, Bad Brains and Black Flag. Vocalist Jaw brings a raspy but still conceivable vocal style into the mix. Maul Malone the guitarist has a loud garage style approach to the riffs. The recording sounds real full and every frequency rings out. These guys aren't your typical post-punk or whatever you want to label them band. Even though they follow in those footsteps they have their own style just the same. The drums performed by Bald X are nice and steady. He isn't here to show off his chops but he keeps the rythem nice and tight. They initiate lots of empty space in their recordings which requires lots of stops and starts. Bald X is dead on with all of the chages. Pookie the bass man keeps the songs flowing. For the most part he follows the guitar; but hey that is punk rock. I want to thank these guys for taking me back to an era before all the so called "punk" bands came and ruined everything. These guys are raw and pure. True hardcore. If this is what you long for grab this disc.
